Please help.

I am nearing the point where I need to decrease on my hat. I'm knitting the hat on a circular needle and I have the double-pointed needles to finish but I have no clue how. Please respond with detailed instruction or a website that will give me said instructions.

Thank you.

Let's see if I can explain this. . .
Since I don't know how many stitches you have on the needles right now use these numbers for example only:
At the beginning of "a row" knit 5 stitches, then knit two together.
Continue knitting 5 stitches then knit two together for the first row.
Row 2- Knit each stitch.
Row 3- Knit 4 stitches then knit two together.
Row 4- Knit each stitch.
Row 5- Knit 3 stitches then knit two together.
Row 6- Knit each stitch.
Row 7- Knit 2 stitches then knit two together.
Row 8- Knit each stitch.
Row 9- Knit 1 stitches then knit two together.

Go on knitting in this style until you are left with only one stitch.
If you notice the hat is becoming too pointy, add a row of knitting each stitch. (Unless you are looking for more of an elfish type hat!)
I'm sure the ladies at The Yarn Lounge would be super happy to show you if you need to talk it through with someone.
Good Luck.

You need to switch the dp needs to decrease, otherwise you'll end up with a tube.
